Web Templates Facts

By Jane Franklin

In these times of need more and more people are turning to the Internet in search of a second income. Sadly not all of us have the skills or the means to design our own websites and many choose to join sites such as Wordpress or Blogger. However web templates may be a solution to the problem.

When you use a web template it is extremely important that you follow the rules, otherwise you may find yourself using it illegally. Template rules vary from site to site but it basically boils down to whether or not the web template was bought from a supplier or obtained from a free template site.

Using Free Web Templates

The author's link is, most likely, the single most important thing to remember when using free web templates. Check the rules, usually you have to have it on your homepage only but some authors insist that it is on every page.

Arriving at a free web templates site you will most probably be faced with an endless list of pages featuring about 10 on each. Arriving at the next site it will be much the same and there are hundreds of sites so it is not surprising that many assume that not many people use them. Sadly this is not true and some templates are used a great deal. When using these templates always take a quick look at your direct competition to make sure that you do not end up with a site looking just the same.

One easy way to make your web site appear unique is to simply change the header image. The header image is usually the large image at the top of web templates and in software such as Wordpress the changing of this image is as simple as a few clicks.

It is relatively easy to create your own header image. Professionals use applications such as Photoshop but there are plenty of cheaper competitors out there and several shareware/freeware editors which are more than capable. You can also hire somebody to create the image for you and those hired online can cost as little as a few dollars.
