In 2007, Google AdWords pay per click advertising bested its competitors by generating over $16 billion in revenues. It became the most popular source of income for Google today.

The Google AdWords pay per click advertising method caught on with online business owners and now, it's an acceptable advertising model if you want your business to succeed online. However, those who cannot understand this advertising model may be wasting their time and money making this method work for them because they don't truly understand its concepts.

Bill Gross first developed the idea of AdWords pay per click advertising. He got this idea from the concept of the Yellow pages which divides businesses into certain categories or keywords. Google wanted to purchase Gross concept but the two parties cannot agree. In 2000, despite its inability to negotiate with Gross, Google started the AdWords pay per click advertising. A court dispute ensued and the courts awarded Google the full rights to the AdWords pay per click advertising concept.

Google first offered the Adwords pay per click advertising to business owners by asking for monthly fees. Google then managed the campaigns for the business owners. Later, Google gave business owners the ability to manage their own advertising campaigns. They were able to do so through an online portal.

Business owners find that it's more cost effective to hire specialists in the AdWords pay per click advertising method. They've realized that these online marketing specialists who have studied this method for some time knows what works or does not work in online advertising.
