Learn about Web Hosting

By Peter Hansen

It is already determined that one of the most crucial things you need to have in order to make your business a success is a web site. The importance of the net actually varies from one business to another. Some would benefit more from a web presence than others. But one things for sure, all companies would benefit from having a website, even a simple one where only some information about the company is given.

People today like to keep informed. And its always helpful when they can find the information they want without trouble. So, there is no question about whether or not you should get your own website. The real question is how much you should spend for it.

There are several different kinds of web hosting services and choosing which one to use would depend on how crucial your website is to your business.

Free Web Host

If your company is not internet-based or does not depend heavily on the website, then perhaps going for a free web host would be the best recourse. The greatest thing about a free web host is that you wont need to spend any money on it. It is, after all, free.

However, you should be prepared for downsides to using this type of service. One of them is reliability, or the lack thereof. Servers of free web hosts malfunction at times. Also, do not forget that even free web hosting services need money so that they can give you with free space. Money does not grow on trees, after all. So sometimes, you will have to contend with some ads on your website so that you can use their service. Also, do not expect that you will have an unlimited amount of space. Usually, the companies will provide you with a few gigabytes and that is it.

Shared Server

Shared servers, on the other hand, do not have the downsides of the free ones. There are almost no downtime and you wont have to put up with ads that you do not want. You also get your own domain name and a lot of storage space. You have to pay for it, of course, but you only have to pay a tiny amount monthly. Its totally cheap and the only downside is security. Overall, though, this type is great for those whose websites are crucial for business.
