A Brief Look-See At The Search Engine Torrent

By Jim Rogers

When you open the search engine Torrent, you will find that there are neat sections that contain lists of current movies, games, Anime, e-books, music, and other really large files. Many of these files would not be accessible on most computers because of their sheer size. Using the Torrent file you are able to upload and download any type of file on the Internet.

Torrent is P2P (Peer to Peer). This means that files are uploaded and downloaded between community members. Anyone can upload any type of file as long as it has been converted to a Torrent application. Many of the files, movies, etc., would be very expensive to purchase or require a subscription fee but are free for downloading on Torrent.

The peer to peer format does not have any subscription fees or charges. An individual is unlimited in the number of files they download or upload. This lack of restriction also means that systems are more easily attacked with spy-ware, malware, and other serious conditions. When using the program it is important to take extra care to make sure that your system is protected against attack.

Many of the terms used in Torrent are different than you may be familiar with. If you are sending or receiving files you are a "seed." When you begin downloading you one of a group of individuals called a "swarm." The Torrent servers are called "trackers." When you install an application to use the Torrent files, it is called a "client." Each of the files or sets of files transmitted on Torrent have to have a unique torrent file in order to be downloaded.

You will find many different Torrent search engines. The communities of Torrent users that maintain search engines often have several restrictions for membership that are designed to protect members from attack. There are communities that have a singular focus and may contain only games on the search engine.

Doing research about the advantages and disadvantages of Torrent will be important. While you can get movies, etc., on the day they are released, there are disadvantages that may make using the program prohibitive without taking necessary precautions. The communities are friendly and normally if a disreputable person is on one of the public sites they are identified by the regular users and newcomers receive a warning about downloading their files.

There are however, disadvantages. IP addresses are not anonymous and are listed with the swarm in the tracker. The IP address is maintained in the tracker and list past and present addresses for users. This is one of the reasons that spy-ware, malware, and other attacks on your system are easier for disreputable individuals.

Copyright infringement will be another consideration to make before downloading materials. Knowing copyright law and the penalties of infringement will help you to decide if you are willing to have your IP address be attached to a movie, game, or music that has been illegally uploaded or downloaded on the Internet.

The search engine Torrent is in sections that provide choices on new movies, games, etc. Because the ability to download a file is dependent on the activity of the swarm, some of the files are not accessible after a short period of time.
