Web Design - Create An Effective Site With the Help Of These Elements

By Brian Hansen

For you to come up with a good web design, you need to take into consideration various elements that can make your site looking pleasing for readers while being functional at the same time. Coming up with a good website is not all about HTML tags only; you need to make sure that various elements are also present.

Here are some of the elements you should be considering:

Balance: When you talk about balance in web design, this means distributing all elements on your webpage evenly. Since achieving a web design balance is dependent on your page layout it is best to keep in mind the three types of balance: symmetrical, asymmetrical, and discordant symmetrical

Contrast: Your site should not only involve colors but elements such as shape, size and texture as well. It is best to use different font size, text family and weight. The different contents on your website should have a good contrast to get attention however it is best not to use loud colors to contrast colors.

Emphasis: Emphasis means getting your viewer to focus on one particular item, image or text. Refrain from making all web element standout in a web design because it will only draw confusion from the reader. You don't need special page layouts or design to achieve emphasis. Simple changes on font size, color or image will do the trick.

Rhythm: Rhythm is also known as repetition. This brings internal consistency into your site designs. Almost all elements in your design can be repeated in order to create pleasing rhythm into your design. As an example, you can repeat your headline a few times or more, or repeat the same image across the page. You can also create a background patterned with repetitive elements, or repeat a particular style to provide site design consistency. It is also a good idea to repeat the navigation elements in your site design across the pages of your web site.

Unity: Your site should have a unified look. All elements should be able to express something when they are placed together. Though these elements are different in their respective ways, they will be "one" when they are arranged a certain way.

A good website should have all these elements. If you take the time to study and incorporate these things, you will be able to create an effective site that will attract customers and bring in the dough.
