How to Find the Best Registry Cleaner

By Steven I. Peck

Before you decide which Registry Cleaner application is best for your computer you'll be left with the unenviable task of figuring out which features you require. The one common factor prevalent across all of the registry cleaners is their ability to identify and remove the many windows registry errors your computer has acquired in its day to day operation. Aside from the most obvious feature there are so many different functions available.

Some registry cleaners automatically guide and control the process of scanning and removing errors from your system. Others either do not provide this automated functionality, or additionally offer the option to edit the registry manually. (this is not recommended for the novice PC user, as serious damage to the registry can result if done improperly).

The other major advanced functions that might allow you to find the best registry cleaner for you are scheduled scanning, registry backup and restore or the ability to remove spyware or reduce the number of programs that start when you turn your computer on (slowing it down for no reason).

Software that offers all of these types of additions are clearly not just meant for removing registry errors. Registry errors are one problem that slows down your computer. Software that incorporates other features that optimize your computer can be very useful for a total overhaul of your computer's performance.

You may want to think about the problems that you encounter most frequently and make sure that there is a way of dealing with that issue in the software you are looking at. The best registry cleaner is not neccessary what is best for everyone but what is best for your own computer and circumstances.

Don't go for the name only. Do some research and find out what products are most highly recommended by others and what types of problems they solve besides cleaning up registry errors. This is the best way to find the right registry cleaner and in the process, you'll even find out about some features and issues that they solve that you may not have previously thought of.

A great place for getting reviews are in forums and other online discussion boards. In addition, product reviews are very helpful, especially the kind that allow you to compare one software against the other and see the different features each one offers.
