First things first, social bookmarking is the process of adding quick links and descriptions of a particular page of your website or a specific blog post to a network site that takes submissions. You enter the URL, the title, and in many cases a description and set of tags or keywords that help enable people to find the post.

By posting the link, your wanting other people to find it and click on it. If you've got something to share that people are interested in, they'll read it. It's helpful to target your message to communities that are targeted to your subject.

By having more people ready and like your site, it then become more your link becomes. Uniqueness is important at that's what'll attract more views to your site and get you better placement. Entertaining, informative, and funny sites are great way to attract more views. You can't get results with sales pitches and press releases.

You've got alot of social bookmarketing site you can use. Digg, Reddit, Propeller, and Delicious are some of the most popular. These are all purpose sites, which means they have several different categories to submit your link to. They get alot of traffic and you've got alot of potential. There are also smaller, targeted sites. So, if your website is about travel, you've got sites that are specific to travel and adventure. This helps you get the targeted traffic you're looking for.

One important thing you have to remember for social bookmarking is that you have to really become a part of the community. You can do this by reading other people's articles and visiting their links. You can become "friends" with them and follow their postings. This will encourage other people to do the same for you, which will help spread the word and will result in more views for all of your links.

Social bookmarking is a very powerful tool. You can choose to use niche directories to find focused sources of traffic, or you can use massive, all purpose sites that are less targeted but provide greater potential.
