Where You Can Land Some Easy One Way Links

By Dirk Andersen

Web site owners know that inbound links are crucial to promotion. Links feed search engines, so when you have more inbound links, you become more popular. Better quality links will cause you to move in the keyword search results. When it comes to back links, some are better than others. One-way links from well-regarded site with a high page rank are highly preferable.

Inbound links are vital if you want to improve traffic to your web site. Inbound links will improve your web site's rankings for organic search engines and provide another path for visitors to find you. Links from high traffic, authoritative sites are weighted more than other links. The main objective in most SEO campaigns is building high quality, one-way links to your web site.

One of the most impactful and simple ways to get one-way inbound links to your web site is to list it in web directories. For example, you could try the Open Directory Project, Yahoo and the Authority Directory.

The ODP is free to submit, but it could take a while to get reviewed. In addition, the percentage of those accepted there is low. Yahoo's directory takes only about seven days for review but costs $299 per year. The fee at Yahoo is non-refundable and acceptance is not guaranteed there either. The AuthorityDirectory.com charges a small annual fee and review is generally completed within a much faster 48 hours. Your site is not guaranteed acceptance at the Authority Directory either, but in most cases they refund the fee if your site is not accepted.

Exchanging links with other sites is a much riskier way of collecting links. If you exchange a link with a banned site, it can hurt your site's popularity or get it banned from a search engine. Google and other search engines have said they are devaluing reciprocal links.

Link-building is an ongoing process that's crucial to ranking highly in the search engines. Link popularity can place your site on the first page of search results or not at all. Inbound links can bring traffic to your site in two different ways: 1) via click-through traffic and 2) via better organic results in search engines.
