Get To The Number One Position On Google

By Michael Fleischner

Getting started online is now easier than ever. When I began doing business online I quickly developed an understanding of html and web design. The process of creating new web pages and promoting the code to a live server was complicated at first but got easier with time. Once I was online however, I quickly figured out that having a good design sense wasn't enough to give me top rankings.

After I learned that good website design requires integration of SEO best practices, I was on a mission to learn more about search engine optimization principles being used by top websites and applying them to my own. It took me a good three months to learn about SEO and design principles because not a lot of good information existed on the Web. Once I understood the fundamentals, I began applying them to my own website.

After applying some basic improvements to my website design, I only saw a small impact on my rankings. I seriously expected to be in the number one position for my site name as well as a particular keyword phrase I was trying to optimize for. But the small improvement motivated me to continue reading and learning more about SEO.

Even though I only saw moderate results with what I learned, it was enough to get me hooked. I finally understood that search results could be influenced not only by how you design your website, but through dozens of other factors. Some of these factors you control through your website and other via building connections throughout the web between authoritative websites and your own.

Put your time and effort into choosing the right keywords and optimize your site around those specific keywords. The Internet is crowded. When first starting out, dont try to outrank Nike for the keyword sneakers " its not going to happen.

Build a simple website. Dont get fancy and dont try to use the latest and greatest programming language. Start with a basic website coded in html. The search engines prefer this and you can make updates easily.

Focus on link building. Submit articles, focus on acquiring one-way links, and develop a strategy for updating content on a regular basis so others will link to your site. Especially for Google, link building is an incredibly powerful tool.

In internet marketing, there are tons of professed gurus who can show you the latest techniques for number one rankings. Based on my more than ten years of marketing experience and search engine optimization efforts, Id rather keep things simple.

The good news is that although these techniques take time, they work. No more searching for the silver bullet " keep things simple. Additionally, be sure to research software or services that can help you along the way. Don't be afraid to get help and persist until you achieve your goal. It worked for me and it can work for you too.
